WELL to my surprise I love this CD and some of the songs I've heard and didn't know who the artist was and it was Duffy, and out of the 17 songs I love 12 and the other 5 are good and to do it all over again I would be willing to spend $25 for the hard copy of this disc. 2019 I grew up listening to almost every genre of music which has made me more open to different styles offered today and I also enjoy it when young artists reach back for inspiration -especially when the collection is as good as this one! Without being well acquainted in the deeper mysteries of gene splicing it is hard to imagine what could come from a mixture of Dusty Springfield, Nancy Sinatra, Marilyn McCoo, Shelby Lynne, Petula Clark, Rickie Lee Jones, Chrissie Hynde (or the chick who sang Girl from Ipanema) and believe it to be any more combustible or captivating than Duffy's auspicious coming out effort, Rockferry. The bonus CD contains seven brand new recordings including the smart and sophisticated 'Rain On Your Parade' which pairs irresistible strings with one of Duffy's … After all she seemed to be joining the crowd of modern British retro soul female artists such as Lily Allen and the late Amy Winehouse at pretty much the same time they were all coming out. Shows you how much of that 1990's attitude of corporate thinking weighing out over the creative sort in the minds of the public (that I actively disliked) had rubbed off on me. She caught a bus, for gosh sake, two hours to and fro to write this album. I give the sound a C- (at best). I have recommended her Rockferry album to all of my music loving friends and so far, I've got positive responses from all of them.
I am oblivious to other people's opinions as truly, it is a matter of individual taste. In magazines,my Amazon.com music recommendations,the works! I had never heard of her or heard any of her music, but I love to find and listen to new artists, so I went to her website.
