I was continually impressed with Landry’s ability to get separation and be the possession target Mayfield needed while constantly under duress. While in Cleveland, he has actually had a much lower reception total than we are used to seeing. However, he is currently being drafted as the WR30 overall. Fellow WR Odell Beckham Jr. dealt with injury all season long and did not look like the same player in 2019.
He is a safe option who may not carry that high upside, but can provide you with a solid baseline in your starting lineup. This is what skewed his consistent scoring rank.
However, everyone seems to forget that you need to score points on a fairly consistent basis to win and Landry has almost always done that for fantasy owners. While only 2 of them were games under 5 points, he was not as consistent a fantasy player as we were used to seeing. Because of this, I don’t see a scenario where he finishes with less than 70 receptions or 850 yards. Now that the team addressed the offensive line and signed tight end Austin Hooper, the Browns offensive should run smoothly. Even if Baker Mayfield struggles as he did last year, Landry should still get targets outside the slot.
With that said, Landry can absolutely provide WR2 value in 2020.
Most will not expect him to finish as a high end WR2 again in a season where Odell Beckham Jr. should be at full strength.
