It seems that the two are no longer willing to peacefully co-exist and are now staking their claims in different parts of the country and it’s changing daily. This is where it starts to get confusing.

When Girls DA clubs finally have a cohesive product to present to kids and their parents come summer – especially if it costs markedly less than the comparable ECNL experience – things could get tricky for the more established league in a hurry.But the league-to-league competition that begins in the fall looks likely to be a lot more balanced now than it did a few months ago. That’s fine. The National League has 13 regional Conferences. Our kids haven’t been old enough to play in either but I’ve talked to parents here in KC who have struggled with the decision.I’m sure it depends on who you talk with but I’ve heard parents both praising and criticizing the organizations. Only time will tell…L played ECNL last year and is currently finishing her first year in the Development Academy.

Then, there are a myriad of pro and semi-pro leagues. Promotion and relegation will occur among the Divisions based on records at the end of each soccer season.Teams in Premier I can qualify for the four US Youth Soccer Regional Championships.

Interestingly, if you look at the mission statement of each of these organizations, you will find that they’re nearly identical. Seems that ECNL will continue to make clubs choose as the years go by and will continue the rivalry. Seems like there could be some sort of compromise, but apparently this is the new landscape where certain parts of the country ECNL will again rule and other parts the DA will dominate. But the widespread assumption of that looming outcome being more or less inevitable has both sides scrambling for position, gobbling up territory and other assets like the soon-to-be-former Allies racing across Nazi Germany in the dying days of World War II.The past year has seen an increasingly frenetic series of maneuvers on both sides as the federation-sponsored Girls DA gears up to assume what it considers its inevitable place atop the dogpile that is competitive girls youth soccer – the spot currently occupied by the ECNL.As one insider told SoccerWire.com at the time: “This is the federation we’re talking about. But, although she is a kid who is extremely committed to both soccer and academics, it’s not likely she’s going to be called up to a National Team any time soon. The organization of the league is top notch and exposure is assured.
