In February 2018, the City of Vancouver moved two of its existing fire stations, Station 1 (currently located at 900 W. Evergreen Blvd...In 2017-18, the Vancouver Fire Department reconvened its Community Resource Team to update its 2012 fire service delivery analysis. VFD truck companies carry a full complement of ground ladders and a 100 ft. aerial ladder, along with other structure-fire-specific tools. You can save a life when someone is bleeding. At present, each BC supervises 5 stations and their respective companies. Both VFD trucks are tractor-drawn aerials (TDAs) and do not carry water. The special-purpose HazMat 10 unit is not staffed, but is usually part of a team deployment. All VFD engine companies and truck companies are Advanced Life Support (ALS) units. (Exception- Fireboat 1 is housed several miles distant from Engine 3, the company that responds to staff it, when they are available) Because of their distributed locations, the fire companies provide primary ALS treatment until the AMR transport unit arrives. Firefighters and Captains are represented by the "Vancouver Firefighters Local 452" of the International Association of Firefighters. The City of Vancouver contracts directly with AMR to provide ambulance service to citizens. Every firefighter, Captain and Battalion Chief is certified to either the EMT-B or paramedic level. Engines carry water, hose, and a full complement of emergency medical equipment. Staff for rescue(s) does not impact minimum engine and truck staffing.

Each engine company and truck company is supervised by a Captain (who is counted as part of the 3 or 4 person unit) For some of each day, Vancouver also operates at least one 2-person ALS rescue (an SUV unit; in-service status varies with day of week, shift staffing and time of day). The team is composed of members from both departments, as well as from other agencies within Clark County. The department's daily minimum on-duty staffing is 40, including 2 BCs. Under Governor Inslee’s Phase 2 reopening plan, certain businesses can reopen but at reduced capacity.
